Sandwell Council is seeking volunteers to serve on school admission appeal panels, as the service prepares for its busiest period in the coming months.
The council is seeking to increase its pool of trained panel members to ensure every family’s case is heard fairly and efficiently. Full training will be given, and volunteers can give as much or as little time as possible.
Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Councillor Harnoor Bhullar, said: ”Unfortunately not everyone is successful in securing their child a place at their preferred school. We’re looking for people from all walks of life to become panel members.
“We want to ensure the appeals process remains fair and equitable; this opportunity allows people to give back to their communities and support young people.”
If you or someone you know would be interested in becoming a panel member, visit our schools appeals webpage for more information.
